Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Health: What progress, if any, has been made in the quarter January to March 2024 on the action ‘Work with palliative care and related partners in accordance with the Palliative Care and Healthy Ageing Strategy Action Plans to build capability and capacity in the health sector to better assist people dying with dementia mate wareware’ under the objective ‘Support people living with dementia mate wareware and their family /whānau supporters/care partners to live their best possible lives’ within Te Whatu Ora’s Improving Dementia Mate Wareware Services in Aotearoa New Zealand Action Plan?
Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that during the January to March 2024 quarter, Health New Zealand continued with its National Palliative Care Work Programme, which focuses on developing consistent and equitable models of palliative care provision across New Zealand, which will support better palliative care for all New Zealanders, including those affected by dementia mate wareware
