43853 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter (January to March 2024) to implement the recommendation ‘Monitor, report and act upon impacts on equity for Māori from the pandemic, and specifically outline how Te Tiriti obligations will be met throughout the planned care reset and restart’ as part of Te Whatu Ora Planned Care Taskforce Reset and Restore Plan?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: Proposed Reply I am advised that in the January to March 2024 quarter, actions included: • developing standard reporting with disaggregated data to enable a review of service performance for Māori and to identify solutions targeted to specific service area. • continuing to ensure that a functional kaupapa Māori and equity lens was applied to all areas of HSS work, with the Hauora Māori team integrated into the approval process for decision-making. • continuing to collaborate on establishing national clinical networks, and ensuring Māori co-leads were appointed for all networks. • establishing a prototype for integrated inter-disciplinary weight management pathways to optimise surgical outcomes for Māori and Pacific communities in Counties Manukau and Te Tai Tokerau. • developing national Acute Flow Standards as an accountability guide.
