43773 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Climate Change: Were any concerns raised by the Climate Change Chief Executive Board (Interdepartmental Executive Board) in their quarterly update on delivery of climate priorities, if so, were these discussed at the June Climate Priorities Ministerial Group meeting?
Hon Simon Watts: The June CPMG meeting was brought forward to 20 May. The May CPMG meeting noted the May 2024 Quarterly Progress Report from the Climate Change Chief Executives Board (the Report) and the May 2024 interim projections. Ministers noted these interim projections did not include the proposed ERP2 policies, and the need for detailed modelling to support ERP2. The Report noted that interim projections as at May 2024 suggested the ability to meet emissions budgets has become more challenging compared to December 2023 projections. The interim projections were subsequently updated and finalised in June 2024, including to account for the projected impact of proposed ERP2 policies. Interim ERP2 projections (as at June 2024, available in the ERP2 Discussion Document) show that we are on track to achieve the first and second emissions budgets, with greater uncertainty about meeting the third budget.
