43752 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does he agree with Ministry of Health report Evidence Synthesis of the Research on Suicide Prevention and Postvention: Aotearoa New Zealand and International Perspectives (June 2023) that we need real time surveillance of both self-harm and suicide to support the evaluation of effectiveness of interventions; if so, what actions, if any, will he take to address this?

Hon Matt Doocey: I have noted the findings of the report commissioned by the Ministry of Health – Evidence Synthesis of the Research on Suicide Prevention and Postvention: Aotearoa New Zealand and International Perspectives (June 2023). These findings will inform the development of the next suicide prevention action plan for the 2025–2029 period.
