43725 (2024). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Does he agree with Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora Quarterly Performance Report - 1 January to 31 March 2024 that access, to primary mental health and addiction services, is low among Asian populations when compared to all other population groups, and Asian access to services will be a focus for future planning and improvement; if so, what actions, if any, will he take to address this?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that Health New Zealand has funded the development and delivery of cultural competency training for the mental health and addiction workforce, with a focus on Asian and refugee populations. This will support the workforce to deliver more culturally responsive services to these population groups.
