43617 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Rail: What evaluation criteria did Ferry Holdings use to select its preferred shipyard for the Cook Strait ferry replacement project?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The six shipyards needed to demonstrate they could deliver ships by 2029, deliver ships of the specification as announced in detail on 3 September 2025, and satisfy the Ferry Holdings board and then the responsible Ministers that the price is satisfactory. As for the exact detail, the member will need to wait until the contracts are signed.
