Hon Simon Watts: In my capacity as Minister for Climate Change, I have received the following pieces of advice from officials on the Taxonomy project: · 21/12/23: BRF-3975 Unlocking investment in the climate transition. · 12/3/24: Meeting with officials about sustainable finance, which raised the taxonomy as a lever to enable private investment. · Week of 15/4/24: Written update on taxonomy development. · 6/6/24: BRF-4841 Trans-Tasman 2+2 Climate and Finance Ministers Meetings - Update on preparation. · 11/7/24: BRF-4871 Designing and developing a taxonomy that unlocks global capital and enables New Zealand’s domestic transition. On 1/7/24 I also received Key Design Recommendations for Developing a Sustainable Finance Taxonomy for Aotearoa New Zealand, a report from a taxonomy Independent Technical Advisory Group (ITAG) convened by Toitū Tahua: the Centre for Sustainable Finance.
