43547 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Local Government: Have councils that officials have written to about concerns over Water Service Delivery plans to go-it-alone been given deadlines to reply and if so, what are the deadlines for each?

Hon Simon Watts: As part of the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) ongoing engagement to ensure councils were on track to produce financially sustainable water services delivery plans (plans) by 3 September 2025. I was advised by officials from the Department that the Department requested draft plans from some councils by 31 July 2025 as part of its ongoing engagement to ensure councils were on track to produce financially sustainable plans by 3 September 2025. I have since been advised that the councils in question delivered their plans by the deadline.
