43538 (2025). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many new fire appliances are allocated to Whanganui and the wider Manawatū-Whanganui region in the current replacement schedule?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fire and Emergency) that no new appliances from the most recent shipments have been allocated to Whanganui.
Fire and Emergency locates its new appliances in its busiest stations, and cascades the appliances being replaced to less busy stations. One of the new fire appliances has been allocated to the Manawatū-Whanganui region, to be stationed at Palmerston North.
I am also advised that fleet movements elsewhere in the country, resulting from the delivery of new appliances, will see two older appliances in the Manawatū-Whanganui region replaced with newer appliances. One of these will replace the oldest appliance located at Whanganui.
