43404 (2024). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Police: When did Cabinet approve a mental health call out transition plan?

Hon Mark Mitchell: Cabinet has not approved a mental health call out transition plan. In May, Cabinet noted initial ideas for the five-year Transition Plan to transition from a Police-led to a multi-agency response to 111 calls for people in mental distress. The Plan is being developed in stages. Cabinet noted actions that are already underway for the first year of the five-year plan, such as reducing Police time in emergency departments. Following more detailed design work, the Minister for Mental Health and I intend to report back to Cabinet with details on years two to five of the plan later this year.
