43324 (2025). Hon Willie Jackson to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How many people, if any, received hardship assistance during August 2025?

Hon Louise Upston: I refer the member to the attached table, which provides the number of hardship assistance grants in the month of August 2024 and July 2025 by month ending and hardship assistance type. I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) that data for August 2025 is not yet available for reporting. MSD’s monthly reports are released on the MSD website from the second Friday of the month following. Monthly reports are available in the following link, which also contains a schedule for future releases: https://www.msd.govt.nz/about-msd-and-our-work/publications-resources/statistics/monthly-reporting/. Further detailed requests about specific data subsets are able to be searched and completed after the report for the relevant period is completed. This is also my response to written parliamentary questions 43317 and 43321 (2025).
