43215 (2025). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Justice: What guidance is provided to Police, Corrections, or other agencies when they encounter an individual bailed to a public space, if any?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised that while the Court may impose bail conditions, the Ministry of Justice does not provide any guidance to agencies regarding encounters with individuals on bail. It is the responsibility of the New Zealand Police and/or the Department of Corrections to monitor individuals on bail and ensure compliance with any bail conditions set by the Court.
