Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Customs: What consultations are the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, planning to open on the week beginning Monday 1st September 2025 with employees around any changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions, and what is the proposed net change in roles?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that for the week beginning 1 September 2025, the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) did not open any consultations with employees regarding proposed changes to employment roles, employment numbers and any other employment conditions. This response is inclusive of the staff of the Border Executive Board Secretariat as these staff are considered employees of Customs.
