Hon Nicola Willis: The Government Procurement Rules (the Rules) require agencies to undertake appropriate due diligence checks. The Rules enable agencies to exclude a company from participating in a contract opportunity if there is a good reason to do so, which include; a conviction for a serious crime or offence, human rights violations associated with the company or in the company's supply chain and companies sanctioned by the New Zealand government. Government agencies are responsible for undertaking due diligence that is appropriate for the specific procurement process.
