43164 (2025). Steve Abel to the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations: Why is only 1.8 hectares of Crown land being offered to Ngāti Rēhia in the Kororipo Pā Deed?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: Kororipo Pa Historic Reserve is a 2.3 hectare historic reserve administered by the Department of Conservation. 1.8 hectares of the historic reserve is available for vesting to Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia Trust on-account of a future comprehensive Ngāpuhi Treaty settlement. The balance of the reserve is in the common marine and coastal area, and its ownership cannot be transferred through a Treaty settlement.
Any agreement to new arrangements with respect to Public Conservation Land adjacent to Kororipo Pā will occur during negotiations with mandated group/s towards the settlement of historical Treaty of Waitangi claims.
