43094 (2025). Tangi Utikere to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: How many road cones, if any, were removed from worksites as a result of investigations undertaken following reports of excessive road cone use to WorkSafe’s Road Cone Hotline and how does that number breakdown by region?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that Road Controlling Authorities (RCAs) are responsible for the removal of excess road cones as part of their assessment of sites against approved traffic management plans. WorkSafe has implemented a monthly questionnaire to collect information from RCAs about their actions in relation to road cone hotline notifications, including an indication of over- or non-compliance. RCAs complete the questionnaire on a voluntary basis; they are not required to provide exact numbers of road cones removed.
