42943 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Economic Development: How many graduate programmes and graduate roles have been disestablished, if any, in each of the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Melissa Lee: I am advised that New Zealand Trade and Enterprise has not disestablished any graduate programmes or graduate roles resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service. I am advised that the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment have paused all external recruitment, and that this includes graduate recruitment. The Government Procurement Graduate Programme has been moved out of MBIE and is now being managed by a third party supplier. No procurement graduate positions were disestablished. MBIE also advises that between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024 three graduate roles have been disestablished. With regard to New Zealand Growth Capital Partners I am advised there were none.
