42843 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Health: Is the Minister aware of any waiting lists for palliative care in South Auckland, if so, what numbers and locations?

Hon Simeon Brown: As the Member will be aware, any waiting lists would be a matter for the releative palliative care provider, as independent organisations. I am advised that Health New Zealand has provided the hospice sector with a 3 percent increase in funding this year as part of our Government's $1.37 billion increase investment in health in Budget 2025. Our Government values the vital role palliative care plays for New Zealanders, and we've asked Health New Zealand to work with Hospice New Zealand on a nationally consistent approach to palliative care through the National Palliative Care Work Programme.
