42835 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Health: What percentage of Totara Hospice’s funding, if any, was from the Government, in Budgets 2024 and 2025, as a percentage?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that as an independent organisation, Tōtara Hospice is responsible for setting and delivering against its own budget. However, as I said in Written Parliamentary Questions 42833 (2025) and 42834 (2025), and as I have said in the House, 84 percent of the funding received by Tōtara Hospice, according to their own information, is funded by the Government. I am advised that this is a lot higher than the 50 to 55 percent funding the Government provides on average to hospices across New Zealand.
