42739 (2025). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: Has there been an update on the teacher shortage forecast, if so, what is it?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education (the Ministry) that there has been no update on the teacher shortage since the latest publication of the 2024 Teacher Demand and Supply Planning Projection in February 2025. The February report is available at https://www.educationcounts.govt.nz/publications/schooling2/workforce/a-summary-of-the-teacher-demand-and-supply-planning-tool/teacher-demand-and-supply-planning-projection-2024-results The 2025 Teacher Demand and Supply Planning projection will be released in December 2025.
