42716 (2025). Ingrid Leary to the Minister of Housing: Does Kainga Ora own the units of 59/67 Earn Street in Appleby; if so, will the units be replaced with public housing, and in the exact same location, and if so by what date?
Hon Chris Bishop: Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it does own the homes at 59-67 Earn Street, Appleby, Invercargill.
The homes were last tenanted as follows:
• 59 Earn Street – 15 June 2025
• 61 Earn Street – 14 April 2025
• 63 Earn Street – 27 April 2025
• 65 Earn Street – 1 December 2023 (property not habitable)
• 67 Earn Street – 30 May 2025
The homes are all for sale and will not be replaced by social housing in the exact same location.
Four tenants have been relocated into suitable Kāinga Ora homes. No tenants were moved into motels or other emergency accommodation.
This is also my response to WPQ 42717, 42718 and 43092 (2025).
