42639 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Local Government: Were remuneration levels for Crown negotiators for regional deals tested against comparable Crown negotiator roles (e.g., Treaty of Waitangi negotiations, commercial settlements), and if so, which band did those precedents sit in?

Hon Simon Watts: No. The Crown negotiators are paid based on the skills and experience they bring to the job and follow the Department of Internal Affairs’ procurement policies for consultant services.
