42557 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations: Have they sought or received any advice, if any, on whether Crown board fee increases for entities or agencies within their portfolio, if any, could require reductions, reprioritisations, or trade-offs in frontline or essential services, if so, what did that advice say?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: On 27 June 2025 I received advice on a board fee review for the Ngāpuhi Investment Fund, Tupu Tonu. That advice recommended a fee increase for Tupu Tonu board members at a total annual cost increase of $37,500, the first fee increase since Tupu Tonu was incorporated in December 2020. The increase meets the Target Crown Rate following the assessment by the independent benchmark ordinary director fee review conducted by Strategic Pay in April 2024. The advice noted that the increase in fees would be funded from Tupu Tonu operating revenue.
