Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister of Conservation: Further to his reply to Question 33896 (2025), how many, if any, of the 1,160 permission applications that were pending at 28 February 2025, if any, were issued a reminder that their application might be declined if further information was not provided in a specific timeframe?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Department of Conservation that such records are not kept and establishing an answer would involve the manual checking of several hundred applications and all associated correspondence. With reference to Speaker’s Ruling 199/6, I consider it would not be a good use of Departmental resources to conduct this checking, given the time and cost involved. It would also divert staff from the important task of processing applications in the permissions system.
