42353 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: How many international flights in total, if any, counting each leg of a journey as an individual flight, has each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for paid for in the period from November 27th 2023 to August 1st 2025; and what was the total cost broken down by month, destination, cabin class and the purpose of the flight?
Hon Scott Simpson: I am responsible for six Crown entities. These entities do not all hold the information in the format requested and it would require substantial work to present it in this manner. I am advised that the total amount paid by each entity in the relevant period is as follows: • Accreditation Council: $318,415.17 (tax inclusive) • Commerce Commission: $191,377.95 (excluding GST) • External Reporting Board: $380,773.28 (excluding GST) • Financial Markets Authority: $303,027.42 (excluding GST) • Retirement Commission: $697.06 (excluding GST) • Takeovers Panel: $12,163.35 (excluding GST) The purpose of these flights included attendance at conferences, international working groups and membership meetings of international bodies and to carry out audits and assessments. The class of flight depends on each entity’s internal policies.
