42269 (2025). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Police: How many people, if any, have been arrested under the Gangs Act 2024, broken down by ethnicity, since the legislation came into effect on 21 November 2024?
Hon Mark Mitchell: Charges under the Gangs Act 2024 may result in either an arrest or a summons. It is important to note that Police records reflect the number of charges laid under the Act, not the number of arrests.
I am advised that between 21 November 2024 and 31 July 2025, there have been 684 charges under the Gangs Act 2024, against 602 individuals. Data in this response is drawn from a dynamic operational database and is subject to change as new information is recorded or updated.
I refer the Member to the below table which provides a breakdown of the ethnicity of individuals who have been charged under the Act during this period.
