42232 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology: How many, if any, infringement notices issued by the New Zealand Police have been issued to any vehicle owned and/or operated by each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for from November 27th 2023 to August 1st 2025; listed by infringement type, date, fine, and whether the fine was paid by the individual driving the vehicle or by the department/entity?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: As Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology, I have no responsibility for any government departments. With regard to agencies, Crown entities and any other bodies under the Science, Innovation and Technology portfolio for which I have responsibility have advised that:
For BSI, there were 39 infringement notices issued to vehicles owned or operated by BSI and its predecessor CRIs during the specified period. Of these, 2 infringements were waived by the issuing authority following queries. All fines were paid by the individuals and not BSI.
For ESNZ, no centralised records are kept by ESNZ of infringement notices issued to company vehicles. However, ESNZ can confirm that all such notices are assigned to the driver for payment and none were paid by the company.
For PHF Science, there was 1 infringement notice issued to a vehicle owned or operated by PHF Science during the specified period. The fine was paid by the individual.
For Callaghan Innovation and REANNZ, there were no infringements issued.
