42221 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: What was the average unlock time per prisoner per day at Mt Eden in July 2025?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that, in accordance with the Corrections Act 2004, every person in prison is afforded a number of minimum entitlements, including entitlements to a minimum of one hour of physical exercise on a daily basis. I am further advised that Mt Eden Corrections Facility currently operates under an unlock regime where prisoners receive as a minimum 2.5 hours of unlock time per day. I am further advised that this figure excludes those subject to segregation and time spent attending medical appointments, family visits, legal calls, audio visual link (AVL) and court appearances, education and intervention sessions.
