Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Police: How many international flights in total, if any, counting each leg of a journey as an individual flight, has each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for paid for in the period from November 27th 2023 to August 1st 2025; and what was the total cost broken down by month, destination, cabin class and the purpose of the flight?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I refer the Member to the Police Annual Review for the 2023/24 financial year, for a list of overseas travel undertaken during that period. The Annual Report for the 2024/25 financial year will be published in due course. In regard to the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), information about international travel including destination and total cost is published annually in the SFO Annual Review questionnaires: https://selectcommittees.parliament.nz/reports?Tab=Current&Keyword=serious%20fraud&Parliament=54&From=2023-10-14. A further breakdown of international travel would require substantial research, including manually searching and reconciling flight sector information and trip-level data. As the information requested is not readily available and would require considerable effort to assemble, the time and associated cost of obtaining this information are not, in my view, justifiable.
