42090 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: How many, if any, infringement notices issued by the New Zealand Police have been issued to any vehicle owned and/or operated by each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for from November 27th 2023 to August 1st 2025; listed by infringement type, date, fine, and whether the fine was paid by the individual driving the vehicle or by the department/entity?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: The Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) advises that it is not possible to provide the information regarding Ministerial Self drives and Crown Fleet vehicles in the timeframe for an answer to a Written Parliamentary Question. I can advise that Ministers and others who are eligible users of self-drive vehicles are responsible for paying any fines associated with breaches of legislation that result in a fine or infringement notice. All Departmental staff (including VIPT chauffeurs) are required to report work-related traffic infringements to their manager as soon as practicable. They must also personally ensure any payment of fines is completed within the required time limit.
