Hon Brooke van Velden: Department of Internal Affairs I refer the member to Appendix B. I am advised that providing the member with the information relating to the reason for travel would require substantial collation of information and divert staff from their core duties. In accordance with Speaker’s Ruling 185-6, I consider that the time, and hence the expense of answering the member’s question is not in the public interest. However, the Department of Internal Affairs will continue to provide details of international travel, including purpose, in its’ answers to the Governance and Administration Committee’s annual review questions. Fire and Emergency New Zealand I refer the member to the Appendix B below. Note that the figures for Fire and Emergency New Zealand do not include travel for international deployments as these costs are recovered from the requesting country.
