Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister for the Environment: How many, if any, infringement notices issued by the New Zealand Police have been issued to any vehicle owned and/or operated by each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for from November 27th 2023 to August 1st 2025; listed by infringement type, date, fine, and whether the fine was paid by the individual driving the vehicle or by the department/entity?

Hon Penny Simmonds: I am advised that the Ministry for the Environment (the Ministry) does not own any vehicles. I am further advised that, from time to time, the Ministry will hire cars for staff who need to travel for work. The Ministry’s Travel Policy states that any infringements incurred will be paid by the staff member involved, and not the Ministry. In accordance with the Travel Policy, the Ministry has not paid for any fines for staff between 27 November 2023 and 1 August 2025.
