41963 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister of Education: How many, if any, Koru memberships have been purchased by each department or entity that the Minister is responsible for from 27 November 2023 to August 2024; and for what purpose?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the Ministry of Education renewed two Koru memberships between 27 November 2023 and 1 August 2024. The purpose of the membership is to support employees who are required to travel regularly to meet the requirements of their role. The Education Review Office has purchased Koru Club membership for 22 staff over the requested timeframe. Those memberships were for staff where they are expected to make 15 or more return flights for work. This provides access to spaces where staff can work between flights and use the extra baggage allowance to carry required documentation. This is out of more than 140 staff who are reviewers and/ or evaluators across early childhood and school, for English and Māori medium. No Koru memberships were purchased by New Zealand Qualifications Authority or Education New Zealand between 27 November 2023 and August 2024.
