Written Question
Published date: 25 Jul 2024
41937 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, how many staff, if any, have been or are planned to be made redundant, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that four change processes (including consultation) were initiated in the Improvement Technology and Systems group as part of an operating model review since 27 November 2023, with a further four change processes (including consultation) initiated in the People and Capability, Strategy and Insights, Transformation and Organisational Assurance and Communication business groups in May 2024 that are still in progress.
There were 218 Voluntary Redundancy applications accepted as a result of the April 2024 Voluntary Redundancy process. The number of employees who will become redundant following the four change processes currently in progress will not be known until the processes have been finalised. However, 32 Voluntary Severance (Redundancy) applications have been accepted prior to 10 July as part of the current change process.
This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Question 43542 and 43543 (2024).
