41916 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister of Housing: Further to his reply to Question 38059 (2025), how much of the $100 million taken from the Kāinga Ora budget in Budget 2025 was allocated to establish a Flexible Fund for new social and affordable housing and when will this fund begin operations?
Hon Chris Bishop: From the reprioritised $100 million taken from Kāinga Ora’s budget in Budget 2025, $58 million was allocated to the Flexible Fund for new Social and Affordable Housing Investments. The Flexible Fund is scheduled to begin delivering housing outcomes from 1 July 2027, including the provision of 650 to 900 additional social homes and affordable rentals. The Fund is held in tagged contingency, and its drawdown is contingent on Joint Ministerial agreement (Housing and Finance) on an investment strategy and plan currently under development at HUD.
