41767 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, how many roles, if any, have been identified for disestablishment, listed by role title, remuneration band, and business group (or equivalent organisational unit), between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 40464 (2024). I am advised that following consultation, the Ministry of Health decided to disestablish 247 positions, including both filled and vacant positions. These roles were at various levels and in all directorates of the Ministry of Health. In addition, the Ministry has decided to add 124 positions to the organisational structure with an overall net reduction of 123 positions. I refer the Member to the attached tables for the number of positions disestablished at the Ministry of Health between 1 November 2023 and 10 July 2024, by position title and directorate, as well as by annual remuneration. I am also advised that between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024, Health New Zealand did not disestablish, or plan to disestablish, any roles. However, work continued to progress redundancies that had occurred due to the disestablishment of roles prior to 17 November 2023.
