41749 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, how many staff, if any, have been or are planned to be made redundant, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I refer the Member to Written Parliamentary Question 40464 (2024). I am advised that 41 voluntary redundancies have been approved at the Ministry of Health. I am also advised by Health New Zealand that 184 staff were made redundant, or were in the process of being made redundant, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024. I am advised that there can be a period of months between the decision to disestablish roles and redundancies. I am further advised that disestablishment of roles was underway prior to 27 November 2024.
