41368 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister for Rail: What advice, documents or briefings has the Minister had, if any, on the Greater Christchurch Partnership and NZTA's Mass Rapid Transport project and the work that was done to assess heavy rail for Christchurch as a part of that project?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: We met with Mainland Rail in April 2026 and spoke at a Ministerial event about the potential to use existing rail infrastructure to serve Christchurch and the surrounding towns. Work is underway and the Government will have more to say about this once that work is completed, not before.
