41317 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Justice: What total amount, if any, was spent on board member fee increases in the past 12 months, broken down by entity and month?
Hon Paul Goldsmith: Fees for board members of independent Crown entities are set by the Remuneration Authority. The Remuneration Authority’s decisions on remuneration for public office holders are known as determinations. There is no cost to the entity when the Remuneration Authority undertakes a determination. In the last 12 months, the Criminal Cases Review Commission had one scheduled determination by the Remuneration Authority, which was in September 2024, effective 1 October 2024. For the Electoral Commission, the Board fee rates were set on 1 July 2024 and expired 30 June 2025. A new rate has been set effective 1 July 2025. This is a $20/day rate increase for the Chair, and a $40/day increase for the Deputy Chair. I refer the Member to table 1, attached for the costs associated with board member fee increases for the last 12 months provided by month. For all other entities, I am advised that the answer is nil.
