41204 (2026). Mike Davidson to the Minister of Internal Affairs: On what date did the Board Chair of Fire and Emergency New Zealand become aware of the matter that has been referred to the Serious Fraud Office that has seen the Minister lose confidence in the Chief Executive?

Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by my officials that the Chief Executive’s recollection is that he verbally notified the previous Chair of the matter on 2 September 2025. The current Board Chair was informally advised on 3 July 2026 and fully briefed on 30 July 2026 as part of his first Board meeting.
