41199 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for Land Information: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, what savings have been identified, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Chris Penk: Employment decisions and delivery of services within budget are the responsibility of the Chief Executive of Toitū te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). I am advised that as part of its ongoing operating and fiscal review LINZ has reduced the use of contractors and consultants, and halved discretionary budgets in areas such as travel and training. Also, since last year LINZ has limited recruitment and only recruits into high priority roles. A total of 54 vacant positions across the organisation assessed as lower priority, including vacant leadership roles have been disestablished. Specific savings of $8.6 million per annum were included in Budget 2024, these are set out in the attached table.
