41124 (2025). Camilla Belich to the Minister for ACC: How does the direction to reduce social rehabilitation spending align with ACC’s obligations and purpose under the Accident Compensation Act 2001?
Hon Scott Simpson: Under the Accident Compensation Act 2001, ACC ensures New Zealanders receive appropriate care after an accident while maintaining fair and stable levies. As part of this commitment, ACC advises me it regularly reviews the care clients receive to make sure it is spending appropriately on social rehabilitation. This can include checking that ACC is providing the right level of care for the injury and current condition, as well as making sure ACC is only funding care related to the covered injury. This means ACC can care for New Zealanders affected by injury now and in the future.
