41118 (2025). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister of Conservation: Further to his reply to Question 33909 (2025), has the Department of Conservation now received sufficient information from OceanaGold about its lizard management plan in order to process its application to expand the Macraes gold mine and if so, what decision, if any, has the Department made on the application?

Hon Tama Potaka: The Department of Conservation advises me that in agreement with OceanaGold, it has been working on other priority Wildlife Act 1953 applications for Macraes mine – for which it has all the information needed to make a decision. Given this, I am further advised that no further work has been done on the application referred to in the response to WPQ 33909 (2025). One of the two applications in progress is a partial replacement for that declined application.
