41118 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, what savings have been identified, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that the Ministry of Health identified $12.6 million in savings from its eligible baseline for investment in the wider health system as part of Budget 2024. I am further advised Health New Zealand’s year-end position will be publicly reported when finalised and audited. Health NZ is aware of my clear expectations for effective financial management, including ongoing savings so funding can be reprioritised to improve health outcomes for New Zealanders.
