41112 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister responsible for the GCSB: In the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies, if any, what savings have been identified, between 27 November 2023 and 10 July 2024?

Hon Judith Collins: As set out in the Budget 2024 material, the GCSB will be making savings of $7.62 million per year from 2024/25, through efficiency savings. These savings will be achieved through efficiencies in areas such as contractor and consultant spending, training and development, and travel. In addition, funding of $5.742 million over four years that had been set aside in a tagged contingency for the GCSB in Budget 2023 to expand the mandate of the Government Chief Information Security Officer has been returned. The existing GCISO mandate will not change and baseline funding for this function remains.
