41034 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Which hospitals currently ask patients to sign consent forms due to having no doctor on site?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that no hospitals currently ask patients to sign consent forms due to having no doctor on site, except for Dargaville Hospital. My expectation is that Health New Zealand continues to recruit for clinical staff for Dargaville Hospital and I have received assurances that Health NZ are doing so, and that existing services for patients will be maintained while this is underway as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
