40999 (2026). Hon Priyanca Radhakrishnan to the Minister for Social Development and Employment: How, if at all, does the Community Mobilisation Toolkit align with Te Aorerekura’s prevention objectives, and what specific actions or outcomes are expected from its use in ethnic communities?
Hon Louise Upston: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development that the Community Mobilisation Toolkit aligns closely with the prevention objectives of Te Aorerekura – National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence and supports Action 23 of the first Action Plan – Develop prevention programmes for ethnic communities.
The toolkit is designed to help ethnically diverse communities lead culturally grounded, evidence-informed violence prevention initiatives that strengthen community capability, increase collective action, and contribute to sustainable social change. Expected outcomes of these actions include:
• increased awareness and understanding of family violence and sexual violence
• stronger community capability and leadership
• greater collaboration and collective action
• more effective and sustainable violence prevention activity.
