40969 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: Have any conflict of interest processes been undertaken between 27 November 2023 and August 2025 on any staff in the Prime Minister’s Office, and if so, who conducted these conflict of interest processes and on what date did these processes take place?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: he Department of Internal Affairs requires all applicants for roles in Ministerial Offices, including those in the Prime Minister’s Office to declare any conflict of interest during the recruitment process. If applicable, a management plan may be discussed and agreed on before an offer of employment is made. Once staff have commenced employment, they are required to declare any actual, perceived or potential conflicts of interest as soon as they arise, as per the Department’s Code of Conduct. In addition the Department has a process where conflicts of interest are discussed and reviewed on a regular basis including as part of annual performance discussions.
