Arena Williams to the Associate Minister of Housing: Has Kāinga Ora or the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development ever set or approved a requirement that applicants to the social housing register provide 10 housing decline letters before being accepted onto the register, if so, when was that requirement introduced and for what reason?

Hon Tama Potaka: No – the management of the housing register is the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Development.
