40656 (2025). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Police: How many people, if any, were charged with an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1975 after calling 111 for help for a suspected overdose or adverse drug reaction this year, and how does this compare to the previous five years, broken down by year?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police does not hold information about the 111 service as Spark NZ are the operators and triage calls based on what response is required. Calls that are passed to Police are recorded in their dispatch system. However, they do not specifically code whether the call is a suspected overdose or adverse drug reaction. As such the information requested is not available and would require considerable effort to assemble. The time and associated cost in obtaining this information are not, in my view, justifiable.
